Squid fishing charter
Squid fishing is one of the most fun and accessible styles there is — perfect with kids or for anyone looking for something different from fishing for fish. We use squid jigs and special lures (egis) that imitate the movement of a prawn or a small fish, and head to the areas where squid, cuttlefish and octopus gather. Dawn and dusk are the most active times, so our trips are designed to make the most of exactly those hours.

What will you catch?
With this technique we go after cephalopods: squid, cuttlefish and octopus, three of the most prized catches in Mediterranean cooking. It's a very visual and entertaining way to fish — when one bites you'll feel a distinctive tug and see the squid squirt its famous ink as it comes out of the water, one of the moments the youngest in the group love most.
It's done with squid jigs and special lures called "egis", designed to imitate the movement of a prawn or a small fish. You cast or drop the lure and give it small tugs so it moves in an eye-catching way — that movement is what triggers the hunting instinct of squid, cuttlefish and octopus.
It's a style that rewards attention to detail: the bite feels like a gentle pull, very different from a fish, and you need to keep the line tight without sudden jerks so you don't lose it. When the squid comes out of the water it often squirts its famous ink — a moment that surprises (and delights) the youngest in the group.
You don't need a fishing licence of your own. The trip runs under the boat's and the skipper's professional licence, so you can come along without any paperwork — just turn up at the marina.
On every trip you'll also be with our skipper, your local fishing guide in Marbella:
No fishing gear — rods, squid jigs, lures and all the tackle are included. We just recommend comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty (squid squirt ink when they come out of the water), non-slip shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen.
Yes, it's one of the most accessible and enjoyable styles we offer, ideal if you're bringing kids or want a relaxed but entertaining plan. You don't need strength or previous experience — just a little attention to the gentle tug of the bite. The skipper teaches you the technique from the very first minute.
We set off from Marina La Bajadilla and move around the rocky areas and grounds close to the Marbella coast, which is where squid, cuttlefish and octopus tend to gather. The skipper knows the spots that work best depending on the time of year and the conditions on the day.
Marbella's marina is one of the most iconic spots on the Costa del Sol: a lively meeting point for locals and tourists right in the heart of the city. You'll find us at Marina La Bajadilla, 29603 Marbella, Málaga, with easy access by car, taxi or on foot.
Beyond your fishing trip, the marina is a destination in itself, with beachfront restaurants, nautical events and beach clubs. Find out more on the official Marbella marina website.

FAQ
Get all your questions answered before booking your squid fishing trip in Marbella. If you have any questions about the trips, the boat or the species, get in touch.
It's true that squid are most active at night, but dawn and dusk are also very active times — in fact, many anglers consider those low-light hours just as productive as full darkness. That's why our 7:30am trips make the most of the first hours of daylight, some of the best of the day for this technique. You don't need to go out at night for a good day of squid fishing.
The trip is private: the boat is just for your group and is never shared with people you don't know. It's just you, up to 6 people, so the experience and the skipper's attention are all yours from start to finish.
You can take your catch home if you like, always respecting the legal minimum size for each species. If you prefer, we can also release it back into the sea in good condition — you decide on the day, and the skipper will advise you based on what you've caught.
The usual catches are squid, cuttlefish and octopus — the three most prized cephalopods on the Costa del Sol, as fun to catch as they are good to eat.
A maximum of 6 people per trip, so the skipper can look after the whole group properly and everyone gets their turn on the rod when a fish bites.
We offer two time slots: 7:30am or 4:00pm. Both coincide with the most active hours for this technique. You can choose the one that best suits your day when you book via WhatsApp.
